  • Chelsea is hoping to have Romelu Lukaku back after the international break
  • Lukaku has provided an update on his recovery
  • Blues boss Thomas Tuchel explains the team's plan for the injured striker

Romelu Lukaku is still recovering but could be nearing his much-awaited Chelsea return.

Early in the season, Lukaku took Chelsea by storm with his impressive goal scoring. However, an ankle injury saw him being sidelined for almost a month now.

The Blues are aiming to have the Belgian striker back to the lineup when they take on Leicester City in the English Premier League on November 20.

But based on Lukaku’s recent social media post, it appears that things could speed up a bit.

Sharing an update on his recovery on Sunday, Lukaku tweeted, "Let's get this work,” a four-word statement suggesting that he is ready to play again.

Moments later, the 28-year-old delighted Chelsea fans once again by revealing that he just “finished” a workout session adding, "Finished for today… time to go home and watch the rest of these games."

Despite the optimism from his new talisman, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains realistic about the matter.

According to Tuchel, he will stick to the timetable set for the possible return of both Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Moreover, the German stressed that the plan is to utilize their spare time during the international break to recover.

“I am not a friend of deadlines and not putting pressure," Tuchel said of Lukaku and Werner’s recovery. "Both of them have a new target and that target is after the national break. This is what they aim for, what we aim for."

"We will use the time and see what is going on during the second week of the national break. If you ask me the question and I can be more precise than now. We will use the break, have everyday treatment for him, Timo and Mateo to bring them on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Prior to incurring an ankle injury last month, the former Inter Milan star was still in fine form though not as hot as he was during the start of the season.

In his first 11 matches across all competitions for the Blues, Lukaku managed to register an efficient tally of four goals.

In Lukaku’s absence, Chelsea relied on Tuchel’s other attacking options—Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.

The pair has been the team’s go-to-guys in the front since the 7-0 thumping of Norwich City, the first match Lukaku missed due to injury.

Blues right-back Reece James also stepped up by scoring a brace against Newcastle United.
