An Egyptian kebab shop owner in New Zealand has been dubbed the “chillest chip shop operator” by social media.

Said Ahmed was minding his own business on May 28 serving customers when at around 11 p.m. (7 a.m. EDT) an armed robber walked into his shop demanding cash. “Try to be cool as much as you can,” the owner of the Egyptian Kebab House reportedly said he thought as he ignored the robber and calmly finished serving a customer and walked to a back room to call the police.

“I ignored him completely, like ‘I’m not seeing you.’ He had not prepared himself for this action,” Ahmed said.

The Canterbury Police uploaded the video on their Facebook page hoping it will help identify the masked robber. The video has 263,000 likes so far and has been shared more than 1,000 times.

Ahmed reportedly said, “I’m not a hero but, you know, I controlled my reaction. Quite lucky because that reaction come to my head in that moment.”

Ahmed, who immigrated to New Zealand from Egypt 20 years ago, is married and has two children. He has run his kebab shop for 15 years.
