Chris Hemsworth has revealed that filming has begun for the highly anticipated "Mad Max: Fury Road" prequel, "Furiosa."

The 38-year-old actor took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a photo of the movie's clapper kept on a deserted island. "A new journey in the Mad Max saga begins #FURIOSA," the actor captioned the photo.

While Hemsworth is the only confirmed actor in the prequel so far, fans are speculating that Anya Taylor-Joy can also play an important role in the franchise.

Fans took to the comments section to share their reactions.

"If Charlize ain't the lead then im not watching," one of the fans commented. "Also is it still being filmed in Namibia cause the landscape was literally a supporting character in the last film."

Another fan questioned, "Mad Max without Mad Max???" to which one of the fans replied, "It's a spinoff. We've had a lot of adventures with Max. I'm just excited to see more of this world George has built for us."

Director George Miller opened up about the prequel, noting that the movie is going to focus on Charlize Theron’s character. However, the character will be played by another actress as the director explained they aren't able to use "CG de-aging on Charlize."

"For the longest time, I thought we could just use CG de-aging on Charlize, but I don’t think we’re nearly there yet," the 77-year-old director said. "Despite the valiant attempts on ‘The Irishman,’ I think there’s still an uncanny valley. Everyone is on the verge of solving it, particular Japanese video-game designers, but there’s still a pretty wide valley, I believe."

The first installment of the franchise, "Mad Max: Fury Road," was dropped in 2015. Recently, author Kyle Buchanan shared unseen audition photos of two actresses - Zoë Kravitz and Gal Gadot - who almost got Theron’s role in the movie.

"Here's Gal Gadot from her London audition to play Furiosa. (And she almost got the role.)," Buchanan revealed via Twitter in March.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" revolves around a team of people who work against a tyrant who controls the water supply on the land.

The director is all set to make a sequel, titled "Mad Max: The Wasteland," which is slated to release on June 23, 2023, while the prequel, "Furiosa," is slated to release on May 24, 2024.
