American news anchor Christopher "Chris" Wallace has amassed millions of dollars from his decades-long career at Fox News.

Wallace is worth $25 million. His peak annual salary at Fox was $7 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

On Dec. 12, the esteemed journalist announced his move to depart Fox News and join CNN+, a streaming service launching in 2022.

Wallace will host a weekday show featuring interviews with newsmakers "across politics, business, sports and culture," as per CNN.

It is unclear if Wallace will continue earning his salary from his former network or if he walked away from millions of dollars after quitting since details about his contract with Fox were not disclosed.

He previously worked at ABC for 14 years, serving as the chief correspondent for "Primetime Thursday" and a substitute host for "Nightline" before he joined Fox News. He began his 18-year stint as anchor of "Fox News Sunday" in 2003.

Wallace earned a reputation for being one of the most reputable and balanced anchors at the network. The journalist was also known for his hard-hitting interview questions.

The journalist won an Emmy for Outstanding Live Interview for a 2018 interview where he asked Russian politician Vladimir Putin about the attacks carried out against his critics.

Wallace has received a total of three Emmy Awards to date. He was also a recipient of the duPont-Columbia Silver Baton, the Peabody Award and the Sol Taishoff Award for Broadcast Journalism, which was awarded to him by the National Press Foundation.

Aside from his career in broadcast journalism, Wallace is also an author.

He was considered the New York Times bestselling author of "Countdown bin Laden: The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice" and "Countdown 1945: The Extraordinary Story of the Atomic Bomb and the 116 Days That Changed the World."

The news anchor was married twice. He has four children with his first wife Elizabeth Farrell, whom he married in 1973. However, their marriage was terminated in 1994.

He then went on to marry Lorraine Martin Smothers in 1997. In the same year, the couple bought a 5,000 square-foot mansion worth $1.1 million in one of Washington D.C.'s best neighborhoods.

Today, his house is worth an estimated $4-6 million based on comparable sales after both Barack Obama and Ivanka Trump purchased nearby homes.

The husband and wife also own a waterfront home in Annapolis, Maryland.
