Convicted killer Chris Watts may not be able to have the pictures of his family that he murdered in his cell any longer if a Change.org petition gets its way. The petition has been circulating the internet and is urging the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, where Watts is being held, to remove the family photos from his cell in compliance with its victim advocacy values.

Watts told investigators during a five-hour-long interview that was made public that he kept the photos of his wife and two young daughters in his cell, where he would read bible verses to them, talk to them, and read one of his daughter’s favorite books to them.

Since being sentenced in November, Watts told investigators that he has since found God. He reportedly doesn’t attend church at the prison but does spend time reading the bible while in his cell.

The Change.org petition is asking the Dodge Correctional Facility in Wisconsin to take action, saying in its petition, “ Allowing a murderer to keep a trophy of his victims goes against the purpose and mission statement of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, which emphasizes public safety and victim advocacy.”

Watts was moved from a Colorado prison to the Dodge Correctional Facility after threats were made against his life and other fellow inmates taunted him and told him to kill himself.

The petition goes on to say, “We, the public and taxpayers, demand that any pictures of Watts’ murder victims are confiscated and that he does not receive favorable treatment due to the publicity of his criminal case.

“Unfortunately, the publicity of this case has exposed the nation to the horrors of familial homicides. As we, the public, mourned the senseless murders of two beautiful little girls, their mother, and their unborn brother. We cried with the victim’s family, we struggled to comprehend the brutality of the crime, and most of all, we continue to grapple the disturbed peace and increased suspicion that we all may live with a murderer.

“As a result, WE are all victims of Christopher Watts. While Chris Watts enjoys his stay in WI DOC/DCI (at the expense of the taxpayers), we DEMAND that the voices of his victims, (Shanann), (Bella) (Celeste), and (unborn son Nico), are heard and their picture is RETURNED to the surviving family of Chris’ victims.”

Watts murdered his pregnant wife and two young children in August. He pleaded guilty to the crimes and is currently servicing three consecutive life sentences for his family’s death as well as two other life sentences for terminating a pregnancy for the death of his unborn child and 12 years each for tampering with a deceased body.

Since the Change.org petition was posted on April 3, more than 3,500 signatures have been collected. The Seek The Truth & Armchair Detective Group started the petition.
