On Friday, ABC shocked Bachelor Nation by announcing its next “The Bachelor” lead. In a unique twist, the reveal that Matt James will become the star of Season 25 comes before the next season of “The Bachelorette” has started filming, which has some fans questioning, is Clare Crawley’s season still happening?

In the midst of the confusion, Bachelor Nation spoiler blogger Reality Steve took to Twitter on Friday to share his findings on Clare’s 2020 season. “For those asking, no, this has nothing to do with Clare’s season,” he tweeted of “The Bachelor” casting announcement. He added that despite ABC announcing its new lead early, that doesn’t mean Clare will lose her spot as the next “The Bachelorette.”

“She’s still the 'Bachelorette' and from what I’ve heard, will begin filming in July,” he said. “No start date for Matt James season has been announced yet.”

“The Bachelorette” Season 16 was initially scheduled to begin filming in mid-March. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the production was shut down at the last minute. Despite this setback, ABC’s reality chief Rob Mills stated in April that Clare’s season was still scheduled to happen.

“Clare’s season is happening one hundred percent,” Mills told Variety.

The report added that should production be able to resume this summer, fans could expect to see Clare’s season air in the fall.

As for Matt’s “The Bachelor” installment, fans can expect to see him start handing out roses when his season airs on ABC in 2021.
