Authorities in Bloomington, Indiana, have released the identity of a freshman student found dead in her dorm room at Indiana University.

Jessica Tran of Indianapolis was found unresponsive in her room at Read Hall at approximately 8:28 a.m. on Monday by IU Campus Police. She was pronounced dead after attempts to revive her failed.

The investigation into Tran’s death remains ongoing and a cause of death has yet to be determined.

According to the IU Daily Student, suicide has been ruled out as the body shows no signs of self-harm.

Police have also found no signs of foul play.

Tran’s parents have been contacted about the tragic circumstances and have met with the Dean of Students. Representatives and staff members from the school’s Residential Programs and Services and the Dean of Students have also spoken to students about the situation.

Tran was a part of Indiana University’s Group Scholars Program. Established in 1968, the program aims to help bolster attendance by first-generation college students and students from traditionally underrepresented demographics.
