2019 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is two years away from entering free agency but there’s no doubt that he will be one of the most coveted players, especially with many NBA experts expecting him to get better than his record-breaking season with the Milwaukee Bucks last season. There is a possibility that he may not see free agency as the forward will be eligible for a five-year supermax deal worth $237 million next summer.

The Bucks front office has made it clear in the past that when the time comes the supermax offer will be made to Antetokounmpo. And they are certainly going to have more of a chance of convincing him than New Orleans Pelicans had of convincing Anthony Davis to commit his future to them – he joined the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

Antetokounmpo has professed his love for Milwaukee in the past and many expect him to remain with the team in the long-term but stranger things have happened in the NBA and the desire to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy has changed minds in the past. And ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne believes the Golden State Warriors will be in the front of the queue making a pitch for his services if he entered free agency in 2021.

It is a farfetched idea but the NBA expert admitted that it is a possibility while on ESPN’s “The Jump” with Rachel Nicols, who also did not disagree to the notion that the Bay Area team could be a potential destination for the Bucks star. New York Times’ Marc Stein has previously reported the possibility of Antetokounmpo joining the Warriors in the future.

“I can promise you that the Warriors have internally mused about a run at Giannis — however futile it may prove to be — in the event they can’t convince Kevin Durant to re-sign this summer. Trying to sign the most attractive free agent available is on the first page of the Golden State owner Joe Lacob’s playbook,” Stein wrote.

Moreover, Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry are firm friends off the court and it was proven when they selected each other as their No.1 overall picks as captains in the first two All-Star Drafts. The two players are also represented by the same agency – Octagon, and anyone who watched the 2019 All-Star game saw the camaraderie the two players share on the court making a union, however farfetched, possible in the future.
