Around 17 people including two children were displaced after a car fire spread to two buildings in Somerville, Massachusetts, in the wee hours of Monday.

According to local reports, the blaze was first reported around 3.a.m. EDT and soon turned into a four-alarm blaze. The inferno spread to two buildings, forcing several residents to move out of their homes as a precautionary measure.

Several fire departments were battling the blaze. Though the majority of the blaze was contained, hot spots continued to flare. A resident of the building reported that he knocked on his neighbor's door to warn them of the fire and claimed to have "saved their lives" as he was the only one awake.

There were no injuries or deaths reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation and the extent of the damage was not known.
