Season 1 of The CW’s freshman summer sci-fi series, “Pandora,” airs its two-hour finale tonight, raising the big question: Will there be another season — a Season 2 — of the show?

Set in 2199, the drama follows a “resourceful young woman who has lost everything but finds a new life at Earth’s Space Training Academy where she and her friends learn to defend the galaxy from threats, both alien and human,” according to the synopsis. “When secrets about the nature of her own identity begin to surface, she must uncover the truth, and whether she will be humanity’s savior or the instrument of its destruction.”

It stars Priscilla Quintana (JAX, a.k.a. Pandora), Oliver Dench (Xander Duvall), Raechelle Banno (Atria Nine), John Harlan Kim (Greg Li), Ben Radcliffe (Ralen), Banita Sandhu (Delaney Pilar), Martin Bobb-Semple (Thomas James Ross) and Noah Huntley (Professor Donovan Osborn).

The fate of the show is still up in the air as The CW hasn’t yet renewed the show for a Season 2 or canceled it.

Pandora” is currently averaging, ahead of its two-episode Season 1 finale tonight, a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 562,000 weekly viewers, according to TV Series Finale.

That’s slightly lower than last year’s Season 1 numbers for The CW’s then-new summer series, “The Outpost,” which was renewed after earning an average 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demo and 628,000 weekly viewers. In its Season 2, which just ended last week, the show had a 0.12 rating in the demo and 590,000 weekly viewers, which are very similar to this first season of “Pandora.”

Unfortunately, that’s not yet indicative of what might be in store for “Pandora” because The CW hasn’t yet renewed “The Outpost” for another season either. That means a Season 2 and Season 3 for the shows, respectively, are still up in the air.

As “Pandora” is set to have a panel at New York Comic Con this weekend, the network could be waiting to make an official renewal announcement at the event, or waiting until the event is over before officially canceling it.
