KEY POINTS

  • The Cowboys have ended talks with Terrell Owens after the Hall of Famer reportedly has asked for big money
  • Owens would have been the oldest player to play in the NFL had he come to terms with the Cowboys
  • He is still hoping to get a chance to make an NFL return

The Dallas Cowboys are open to adding reinforcements and one name that has been mentioned is that of NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens.

The 49-year-old is reportedly considering a return to the NFL and Owens had been allegedly in constant communication with Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones according to his agent Gregory D.L. Daniel via SI.com.

"We've been in constant communication with Jerry Jones' office over the last few days about the possibility of him returning to the Cowboys," Daniel said. "Terrell is ready to contribute and play any role, big or small. He's in outstanding shape. He looks no different than he did years ago. I watched him running routes full-speed with DeSean and he looked great. He didn't drop a pass."

Unfortunately, it appears those talks have hit a snag after the six-time Pro Bowler allegedly asked for more money from the team according to NFL reporter Dov Kleiman.

Before talks with the Cowboys came out, the five-time First-team All-Pro reportedly reached out to his former team, the San Francisco 49ers.

This was after the Niners lost Deebo Samuel to an injury earlier this season, and Owens reached out to CEO Jed York about a deal but nothing progressed.

Owens was last seen in the NFL in 2010 when he played for the Cincinnati Bengals.

But with the team hardly getting a boost from the Alabama native, Cincinnati opted not to re-sign him for the 2011 season.

On August 6, 2012, Owens signed a $925,000 contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

However, the three-time NFL receiving touchdowns leader announced a few days later that he had been released by the Seahawks.

Aside from the Niners, Cowboys and Bengals, Owens also played for other NFL teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills.

Despite his age, Owens is still hoping to get a chance to return to the NFL.

Assuming he does find a way to sign up with any team, he would be the oldest player ever to play in the league.

Owens is already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, totaling 1,078 receptions, 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns throughout his career.
