The last two “Dancing With the Stars” Season 24 eliminations have been a shock. In Week 6 and Week 7 deserving teams were sent home ahead of pairs that consistently underperform.

The most recent blow to the cast came in Week 7. The remaining teams faced double elimination after performing solo routines and participating in a dance off. Despite dancing their hearts out, Team Baby Got Bach (Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Viall) and Team Blades of Glory (Artem Chigvintsev and Nancy Kerrigan) were sent packing over Team Lady and the Gramp (Lindsay Arnold and David Ross).

Week 6 saw similar drama on a more grand scale. Maksim Chmerkovskiy returned to the show after four weeks off due to injury. He and partner Heather Morris performed a perfect routine, but were sent home in the end due to lack of viewer votes.

Following their elimination, Maks and Heather were set to appear on “Good Morning America” via webcam. Due to a disturbance at he and Peta’s home that same night, only the former “Glee” star was able to appear. Maks voiced his feelings on their elimination days later during an appearance on Maria Menounos’ SiriusXM radio show “Conversations with Maria Menounos.”

“It’s like a pile of stuff. Yesterday, you know how it is, you get eliminated you have to fly to ‘GMA.” This was so shocking to Heather and I that ya know she wasn’t ready, I was, I would’ve done whatever I needed to do but because we both have kids now, and it’s kind of like OK, hold on a second let’s figure this out,” he said.

With some of the better teams on Season 24 of “DWTS” out of the running already, it’s anyone’s guess which will be the next to go. Theoretically speaking, Team Valmani (Val Chmerkovskiy and Normani Kordei), Team Golden Giggles (Sasha Farber and Simone Biles) and Team Shad Squad (Emma Slater and Rashad Jennings) should be safe for at least another week. Team Valmani was awarded their first perfect score in Week 7 of “DWTS,” while the others have been hanging close by on the leaderboard, but is it enough to keep them on the show?

Conversely, Team Denim N Diamonds (Sharna Burgess and Bonner Bolton) and Team Lady and the Gramp have been outperformed by their competition repeatedly. In Week 7 they scored 29 out of 40 and 32 out of 40 respectively, but were selected to continue in the competition thanks to love from “DWTS” fans.

If they can perfect their steps, there’s a chance they’ll be selected to continue on to Week 9. If not, it’ll be curtains for the both of them before long. The Season 24 “DWTS” competition is winding down and despite shakeups, we’re certain only the best of the cast will make it to the semifinals and finals. The show is unpredictable, however, and another elimination shakeup could rock the competition.
