The “Dancing With the Stars” Season 24 cast returned to the ballroom in Week 7 to pay homage to Hollywood movie themes. The ABC cast was shaken following Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Heather Morris’ shocking elimination the week prior, but with two teams going home on Monday they had to keep their heads in the game.

Each team was assigned a dance and movie genre, which they had to showcase in their performance. The team with the highest score would win immunity, while the others were forced to face off in a dance-off. The winner of the second round got two points added to their score.

The pressure was on, but each of the remaining “DWTS” Season 24 pairs gave it their all. The first round of competition on Monday kicked off with a performance from Team Denim N Diamonds (Sharna Burgess and Bonner Bolton) and ended with Team Valmani (Val Chmerkovskiy and Normani Kordei). Only one could be spared from the first double elimination of “DWTS” Season 24.

Here’s how the remaining duos stacked up against one another:

Team Denim N Diamonds

Sharna and Bonner were assigned a Western-themed Paso Doble. The professional bull rider was thrilled to tap into his country roots, but nervous about his physical limitations. He and Sharna worked long and hard to bring intensity and perfect footwork to the “DWTS” ballroom and their hard work seemed to pay off.

While their score wasn’t the highest, the judges were impressed. Carrie Ann Inaba felt the routine was “not fierce enough,” while the rest of the panel appeared content.

Score: 29 out of 40

Team Blades Of Glory

Artem Chigvintsev and Nancy Kerrigan hit the dance floor next. They performed a romantic Tango which they knocked out of the park. The Olympic figure skater was the most confident she’s been in her seven weeks on “DWTS.” She and Artem nailed the footwork and wowed the judges.

Score: 36 out of 40

Team Golden Giggles

Sasha Farber and Simone Biles were assigned a Charleston, which had to be done like a silent movie. That meant that the duo had to work tricks, exaggerated goofiness and comedy into their fast-paced routine — a challenge they were more than ready to accept.

Sasha and Simone kept the audience and the judges on their feet throughout the dance. Neither got lost in the movements and they nailed each trick. They managed to pull ahead of their competitors once more, proving that they deserve their spot in Week 7 of “DWTS.”

Score: 37 out of 40

Team Baby Got Bach

Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Viall had a lot to prove going into Week 7. The “DWTS” duo got to work on their action-themed Argentine Tango. Peta enlisted the help of her future hubby, whom the former “Bachelor” star has grown quite fond of. “I have a bit of a crush on Maks,” Nick joked in his “DWTS” Week 7 package.

Their practice paid off. The pair delivered a routine that was much improved over some of their others. Judges even called it “a joy to watch.”

Score: 34 out of 40

Team Shad Squad

Emma Slater and Rashad Jennings were determined to bounce back in Week 7 of “DWTS.” They spent all week perfecting their horror-themed Paso Doble and the judges were largely impressed. Some, specifically guest judge Mandy Moore, noted that the NFL superstar had come a long way since his earlier days on “DWTS.”

Score: 37 out of 40

Team Lady And The Gramp

If any of the remaining “DWTS” teams should have been nervous going into Week 7, it was Lindsay Arnold and David Ross. The pair consistently under perform their competition and, as things get more intense, they’ve got to fight harder than ever to avoid elimination.

Lindsay and David were asked to perform as space-themed Salsa and they did just that. They worked hard in practice to nail their performance and even worked a few flips into the routine, despite the former Chicago Cubs player nearly dropping his partner in Week 6. It seemed as though things were going well... until they reappeared in the ballroom.

Team Lady and the Gramp underwhelmed judges with missed steps and a lack of hip movement from David. It appeared the athlete had given up on the competition. The judges weren’t quite ready to let him lay down yet though.

Score: 32 out of 40

Team Valmani

“DWTS” fans had high expectations for Val and Normani going into Week 7. The pressure was on and they were feeling it. During their package the Fifth Harmony singer/dancer revealed that she’d been working through some serious injuries as of late.

She wasn’t going to let that keep her from crushing their foreign film themed Argentine Tango. Their routine was strong, sexy and, above all, flawless.

Score: 40 out of 40

Dance-Off

Team Golden Giggles Vs. Team Blades of Glory

Sasha and Simone chose to take on Artem and Nancy in the latter portion of “DWTS” Week 7. The pairs danced Cha Cha routines while viewers and judges cast their votes. America and the judges agreed that Team Golden Giggles deserved the extra two points added to their score.

Team Shad Squad Vs. Team Lady And The Gramp

Emma and Rashad faced off against Lindsay and David in a jive competition. David attempted to showcase the pep in his step, but couldn’t keep up with the moves. America and the judges chose Team Shad Squad as the dance-off winners.

Team Denim N Diamonds Vs. Team Baby Got Bach

Sharna and Bonner went up against Peta and Nick in a Rumba showdown. The teams were equally matched, which made choosing a winner no easy feat. The judges and viewers chose Team Denim N Diamonds as the winners.

When all was said and done, two teams had to go in Week 7 on “DWTS.” Team Valmani was exempt due to their high scores. At the end of the show, Team Blades of Glory, Team Baby Got Back and Team Lady and the Gramp were in jeopardy, but it’ll be Lindsay and David returning for another performance in Season 24.

Tune in to “DWTS” Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
