Dancing With the Stars had a relatively low-key season almost up until the end, when fan favorites Katherine Jenkins and William Levy were ousted in the finals in favor of NFL player Donald Driver, who took the Mirror Ball trophy home.

In an elimination shocker, Levy was the first of the three to get the boot in the finals. Driver flew under the radar for practically the entire season, as Levy and Jenkins were considered the competitors to beat.

Driver tweeted to his fellow competitors, the judges and, of course, to fans: Good morning! Thanks for the love and support! America you were amazing! Thank you.

Of the final three, Jenkins was the only one to go into the finals with a perfect score, although Driver and Levy were right behind her by one point, according to an Associated Press report.

Driver shares the underdog victory with his professional dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd. This was her second season on DWTS and her first win. She and former partner, professional basketball player Metta World Peace, were the first couple eliminated from Season 13.

She tweeted her thanks to Driver: You have been the BEST partner a pro could ask for! You're a champion and I'm so grateful to share this experience with u!

Jenkins, a Welsh singer who wasn't really known in the United States before her DWTS stint, was gracious in her defeat.

Being runner up on DWTS feels pretty amazing, she tweeted.

Now Driver is fielding tweets from excited fans and fellow football players. He's even getting some political support, particularly from Wisconsin.

Milwaukee, Wis., mayor Tom Barrett tweeted his support for the Green Bay Packers player: Congrats to Donald Driver on winning Dancing with the Stars. You made Wisconsin Proud!

Wisconsin representative Andy Jorgensen also tweeted his support for Driver: Congratulations (sic) Donald Driver! What a class act!

Looks like Driver will have some down time until the preseason starts in August. He did reveal some more immediate plans to People magazine: spending time with his wife and kids and taking a Disney cruise with them.

That's what you have to do, because my family has been behind me the whole time, he said.
