“Marvel's Daredevil” Season 2 will bring in another love interest for Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox), but she isn’t much like his past girlfriends. Producers revealed a few details about Elektra (Elodie Yung), and it sounds like she’ll be very different from Matt’s other relationships. While the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen tends to flirt with kind-hearted, moral women like Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Matt’s new love will be more of a wild card.

Executive producer Doug Petrie said that the Greek assassin will appeal to the hero’s repressed dark side. “Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have,” Petrie told Entertainment Weekly. “She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”

Elektra won’t be introduced as someone new in Matt’s life. She is referred to as “his old college girlfriend” in the EW article, but many fans already figured that out. In Season 1, Foggy (Elden Henson) mentions that Matt took a class just to get close to a beautiful Greek girl. Matt’s only explanation was that it “didn’t work out.” Perhaps viewers will get a better explanation in Season 2.

However, Matt is still playing the field. Another photo from EW shows Matt and Karen looking quite close while playing pool. It seems their flirtation won’t slow down either. Will the secretary and the assassin get along? It isn’t clear how or if their storylines will crossover, but there is at least one person who is unhappy with the Netflix drama’s new character: her creator.

Frank Miller, the comic book writer who introduced Elektra, has already expressed his disapproval of the show’s version, Cinema Blend reports. “They can call it whatever you want, but it will not be the real Elektra,” he told audiences at Brazil CCXP, a comic convention, earlier this month. However, he also admitted that he has yet to watch the show.
