Actor David Boreanaz has spoken out for the first time on his 2010 affair with Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel.

Boreanaz, 42, recently told TV Week magazine that his cheating scandal was a bonding experience.

In a sacred ground like marriage, you find yourself out of it at certain times for reasons unknown that can be destructive . . . there could be a demon that kind of comes out and overtakes you, he said in the interview, obtained by Us Weekly.

In May 2010, the Bones star confirmed that he had cheated on his wife of nine years, Jaime Bergman, with multiple women.

Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities . . . I just want to be open and honest. I was irresponsible, Boreanaz told People magazine at the time.

Uchitel confirmed their relationship shortly after, claiming that Boreanaz treated her like his girlfriend.

The authentic texts, which I have, reveal that David Boreanaz repeatedly expressed his deep love and affection towards me, she told Us Weekly.

Boreanaz is still married to Bergman, a Playboy Playmate. The pair, who first met in 2001 at the Playboy Mansion, are parents to two young children, Jaden and Bella.

Do I believe in giving up? No, I don't. I'm a fighter. I'm a lover, Boreanaz told TV Week.

Uchitel, 36, recently tied the knot with businessman Matt Hahn in Las Vegas.

The seventh season of Bones premieres on Fox on Nov. 3.
