She is still reeling from the news that Lucas has left town for good, but now, Chloe may change gears and shift her focus after she receives a stunning letter on the Wednesday, Dec. 12 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) has been heartbroken by the fact that Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) is leaving her behind in Salem and moving to Europe, even though she fully supports his reasons why on the NBC soap. However, she’ll be receiving a new purpose in life when Justin (Wally Kurth) hands her a letter—and it contains information that could change her life forever.

Based on a preview clip for episodes throughout the end of the year, it appears the letter will be from Nicole (Arianne Zucker), written before her presumed death in the warehouse fire in Nashville. Before her death, she told Eric (Greg Vaughan) she wanted him to raise her daughter, Holly (Harlow and Scarlett Mallory). However, prior to their brief reunion ahead of her death, she may have had someone else in mind.

Nicole likely believed she may die after she was forced into a marriage with Xander (Paul Telfer), and likely wrote to Chloe and made a shocking reveal that she wanted her to be the one who raised her daughter if anything ever happened. Since the preview clip (see above) showed Chloe and Brady (Eric Martsolf) teaming up and going against both Eric and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), who also want to raise the little girl, it seems Chloe will want to honor her best friend’s request.

Now, with more people than ever about to fight over Holly, things are going to get messy very quickly in Salem.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
