KEY POINTS

  • New superhero games based on the DC lore are set to be revealed on FanDome on August 22
  • "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" is Rocksteady Studio's first solid game in five years
  • WB Montreal's take on the "Batman: Arkham" franchise will also be tackled
  • The new "Batman" game is set to feature the Court of Owls and the League of Assassins

Two long-rumored games are poised to grace DC's 24-hour virtual event as organizers are suiting up to give fans new insight into the world of superheroes despite this year's DC Comic-Con canceled due to COVID-19.

DC's FanDome was announced by Warner Bros. last June as an answer to the ongoing pandemic caused by the virus. While social distancing and minimizing mass gatherings are strictly enforced worldwide, organizers have found a way to still continue with the legacy and bring the experience virtually.

One of the panels included in the lineup will be dedicated to Rocksteady Studios' much-awaited “Suicide Squad” game. The title was teased last week with the London, England-based video game developer tweeting a posted of Superman with a crosshair bearing the group's name right on his head.

The rumor mill has been churning towards Rocksteady's direction since “Suicide Squad” will be its first solid game in five years since they released “Batman: Arkham Knight.” IGN reported that DC has confirmed the title, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” after it was mentioned in a domain name registrations list.

Another game that's bound to be revealed is Warner Bros. Games Montreal's “Batman” game. It was first rumored last year with the Studio posting a series of cryptic photos on their social media accounts. Eurogamer puzzled all three images with the help of fans and came up with an idea that it looked like the crest of the Gotham City Police Department.

However, a previous hint from Warner Bros. Montreal depicted something deeper. A Tweet with a caption, “Capture the Knight” soon gave birth to whispers that the upcoming game will involve the infamous Court of Owls, an organized and secret crime group that existed since Gotham's colonial times.

The animated tweet also suggested another faction: the Ra's al Ghul-led League of Assassins. Screen Rant said the new “Batman” game might just involve the Court and the League “at war with each other.” Details are scarce, but there's a huge possibility that Warner Bros. Montreal will spill the beans come FanDome on August 22.

“Gamers! You won't want to miss this first look at an exciting new game and Q&A with its developers,” read the studio's panel description, according to IGN.
