The DCEU’s next film, “The Flash”, will reportedly not begin pre-production in April. As with everything that’s been pushed back, this film has postponed due to COVID-19.

Eunice Huthart, a Hollywood stunt coordinator involved with the project, revealed the news, claiming she was supposed to start at the end of April near the beginning of May, CBR reported. With COVID-19 and the cancellation of most events, she shared that she wasn’t sure how production will now proceed.

The planning for the film started last year, with the release date being set on July 1, 2022. The film was supposed to have been directed by Andy Muschietti of “It”. The film has since had directorial changes, with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” becoming attached to the project at one time.

There had also been rumors about what the solo film featuring The Flash will be titled. There had been murmurs that it would be carrying the title “Flashpoint”, but according to Screen Rant, that wouldn’t happen anymore.

It was being planned that Superman, Batman and the other members of the Justice League would make an appearance in the film under the planned title. “Flashpoint” also features a story where Barry Allen travels through time to save his mother by altering history. The people behind the film have decided that the storyline may be too much for people to understand without having an origin story for the character.

DC has new creatives at the helm, so this may be a result of that, according to the article. They do have a lot of time to decide which story to do, though, because of the coronavirus outbreak. Studios have been putting off production dates or postponing releases because of the disease, which slowed the production of other films. Such films which had postponed their releases so far have been “Mission Impossible 7” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

“The Flash” film is being directed by Andy Muschietti, with Ezra Miller reprising his role as the Scarlet Speedster, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Billy Crudup as Henry Allen.
