ABC’s “Designated Survivor” finally aired an episode after a long hiatus. The action-packed, suspense-filled episode 11 revealed the identity of the person who got shot. President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) had a gunshot wound but the good news is that the bullet didn’t hit any vital organs.

However, shrapnel was floating around in the president’s body after the assassination attempt so the surgeons had to remove all the pieces. The surgery meant that Sutherland’s character had to invoke the 25th amendment and make Vice President Peter MacLeish (Ashley Zukerman) the acting president.

The hour ended with MacLeish making some questionable choices for the country and Tom finally meeting FBI Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q). The commander-in-chief knows about the conspiracy!

In the upcoming “Designated Survivor” episode, a new discovery within the conspiracy emerges, according to the official synopsis.

In the White House, tensions between Chief of Staff Aaron Shore (Adan Canto) and Special Advisor Emily Rhodes (Italia Ricci) reach an all-time high. Aaron knows that Emily and the president are investigating him.

Elsewhere, Wells gets a new lead on the conspiracy and she realizes that she is very close to learning the truth about Catalan, MacLeish and their plan.

The promo of the upcoming episode shows Kirkman getting tired of sitting in the hospital recovering from his surgery when a traitor works inside the White House. Fortunately, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is soon back on his feet and running the country. Still, he needs answers to certain questions like who is the person leaking classified information to their enemy.

Furthermore, the president learns more about MacLeish. He finally knows that the Vice President was a part of the conspiracy from the very beginning – even before the Capitol was bombed.

“Designated Survivor” episode 12, titled “The End of the Beginning,” premieres Wednesday, March 15 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
