KEY POINTS

  • XP can be earned by passively killing Thralls in certain areas
  • A spot in King's Fall spawns an infinite number of Thralls
  • One of the missions in "Shadowkeep" is great for AFK XP farms

Grinding for XP in "Destiny 2" can be a tedious task if players try to focus on burning through the levels as quickly as possible.

Spamming activities can quickly lead to the usual seasonal burnout, and not every Guardian has the time to play the game as much as others can. Thankfully, there are still some AFK farming methods that players can use to get some free levels in without putting in much effort.

King's Fall – Maze

Right at the end of the maze after the Warpriest encounter, there is a spot that continuously spawns immobile Cursed Thralls that can be farmed for XP. Look at the end of the maze, turn around and go down the left corridor. Jump past the Thralls and go to the small recessed area beyond them.

From here, use a macro or the controller trick above to farm the enemies that spawn.

"Shadowkeep" Campaign – In The Deep

Destiny 2 Cryptolith
The Cryptolith beneath the Hive complex in the Moon Destiny 2

This spot is one of the most well-known AFK farming locations in "Destiny 2." However, players will need to own the "Shadowkeep" expansion to gain access to this area.

To start, players have to either reach the In The Deep mission, the 10th step of the expansion's campaign, or wait for it to appear on the weekly rotation at the Moon. This is a very short mission that should only take a few minutes to complete, though finishing it isn't the point of this farm.

Go through the mission normally and pick up the Cryptolith at the end. Then, stand on this rock facing the opposite side of the stairs that lead back to the bridge. Once the lights go off, an endless horde of Hive Thralls will start spawning and swarming the player.

Titans using the Sunbreaker subclass and the Sol Invictus aspect can simply sit by the rock and let the flames kill all incoming Thralls. Other classes will have to use a macro or a controller with the right trigger held down with duct tape to continuously pepper incoming enemies with weapons fire. Trinity Ghoul is an excellent choice for this.

If the Thralls don't spawn, jump down the ledge to restart the encounter. Enemies should spawn normally afterward.
