Bandai Namco has announced that “Digimon Survive” will be released at a later date.

Game company Bandai Namco has delayed the release of “Digimon Survive” and has announced that the game will not be released this year, but will be launched sometime in 2020.

According to Gematsu, Bandai Namco, during the “Future of Digimon” panel at the recent Anime Expo 2019, said it won’t be able to release the game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this year; instead, the game will be released at an undetermined date in 2020.

The game company also showed a trailer spanning more than five minutes during the event. The video was shown to a panel, but hasn’t been uploaded to the internet at the moment. According to Twitter user RPGSite, the video is a “very long anime style opening” that introduces “all the characters” in the game.

The video also reportedly gave a few details about the game’s backstory, as well as a few tidbits about the game itself. For example, as per RPGSite, the video showed the game’s ties into “Japanese mythology,” how a player’s response to their respective “Digimon” will affect its evolution, and so on.

During the panel, it was also revealed that the game will be set in an “entirely new world” and not just a “digital world.” The game is said to take place in both the “real world and the digital world.” So far, these are the only details the game developers shared when it comes to the setting.

Characters

As mentioned, the trailer itself showed the game’s characters. According to the Twitter user, the game’s characters were redesigned, and “everyone’s grown up.” Since “Digimon Survive” marks the 20th year anniversary of the long-running series, it simply makes sense to see familiar faces like Tai all grown up.

Speaking of Tai, the popular character might soon be saying “goodbye. According to the Twitter reporter, the upcoming game might be “Tai and Agumon’s last adventure.” Those who have followed the series since its release in 1999 will remember how the two characters have grown in their bond. Now, it’s time for a new hero, Takuma Momozuka, to take the stage according to Polygon.

“Digimon Survive” will be released next year for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. Stay tuned for more updates.
