It’s time to charge your sonic screwdrivers and gas up your TARDIS, because “Doctor Who” is coming back for another season of crazy adventures through space and time. Now, to promote the upcoming ninth season, the BBC has released a new promotional image featuring both The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his trusty companion Clara (Jenna Coleman).

The new Season 9 poster sees The Doctor holding Clara’s hand as they race away from a pretty sizable explosion. While the Doctor keeps his eye on the prize, Clara seems to be doing what good companions of The Doctor do by keeping her eye on him. Unfortunately, the image doesn’t seem to be a still from any upcoming episode of the series, so while it’s big on cool, it’s quite light on spoilers.

To get a better idea of what “Doctor Who” Season 9 will be about, fans must turn to previously released details from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. At the major event in July, “Doctor Who” executive producer Steven Moffat shared some details about the upcoming season, the return of Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the debut of “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams’ highly anticipated new character.

Previously, the showrunner took a moment at the Television Critics Association Press tour to shut down a few fan theories about Williams’ character, saying that although the first trailer for the new season (below) hinted that she’s got a pre-existing relationship with The Doctor, she’s not someone fans will know from previous episodes with a new face. Those curious will have to wait until episode 5 of the new season of “Doctor Who” to have all their questions about Maisie Williams answered.

As for The Doctor’s principal villain from Season 8, Missy, the BBC is teasing that she’ll be reintroduced into the series right out of the gate starting in episode 1.

‘Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener,” Moffat teased. “But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect…”
