President Donald Trump has made small gains on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in swing states as voters are less concerned about the coronavirus than they were earlier this summer.

A CNBC/Change Research poll released Wednesday found that 66% of likely voters in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have serious coronavirus concerns. That’s down from 69% of voters in a poll taken two weeks prior.

Over those two weeks, Trump’s approval rating among those voters has edged up from 46% to 48%. Now, 52% of voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing, compared to 54% of voters in the previous poll.

Trump’s 47% approval rating on his handling of the coronavirus is at its highest point in three months. Only 44% of likely voters said they approved of the way Trump had handled the coronavirus a few weeks ago.

Coronavirus cases are either decreasing or remaining about the same in all six swing states. Daily coronavirus cases in the United States are at roughly 60% of their peak in July.

On July 25, the U.S. was averaging 66,781 daily coronavirus cases, according to The New York Times. The seven-day average of cases per day was at 42,071 Tuesday.

There were 1,212 reported coronavirus deaths Tuesday. More than 178,000 people in the United States have died from the coronavirus.

Arizona has seen a precipitous drop in coronavirus cases since early July when it was averaging 3,680 cases per day for the first week of the month, The New York Times reports. The state reported 802 cases Tuesday, marking the 12th straight day with fewer than 1,000 cases.

Florida’s seven-day average peaked at 11,865 daily cases on July 18. The state is down to 3,653 cases per day.

Biden still leads Trump in every swing state. The closest race is in North Carolina, where the Democratic nominee has a slight 48% to 47% lead over the incumbent, according to the latest poll. Biden is ahead of Trump 49% to 47% in Arizona, and he has a 49% to 46% lead over the Republican in Pennsylvania.

Biden’s biggest lead is in Michigan, where he has the support of 50% of likely voters compared to 44% for Trump. In Wisconsin, 49% of likely voters support Biden and 44% of those polled favored Trump.

Florida is Biden’s to lose with a 49% to 46% edge.

A July 26 CNBC poll found that Biden had a nine-point edge over Trump nationally.
