Democratic nominee Joe Biden has opened up a strong lead against President Donald Trump in the key battleground states of Pennsylvania and Ohio, according to Fox News polls released on Thursday.

Trump, who headed to a Florida rally on Thursday night, has not commented or tweeted about the Fox News polls.

In Pennsylvania, Biden leads Trump by 7 points, 51% to 44%. In mid-July, a Fox News poll showed Biden leading in the state by 11 points, 50%-39%, and a poll from mid-April had Biden leading by 8 points, 50%-42%.

The Cook Political Report rates Pennsylvania, which has 20 electoral votes, as “Lean Democrat." Trump narrowly won the state in 2016 against Hillary Clinton.

In Ohio, Fox News polls show Biden with a 5-point edge over the incumbent, 50%-45%. In late May, Fox News polls showed Biden leading, 45%-43%, indicating there are fewer undecided voters with the election less than seven weeks away.

Trump defeated Clinton by 8 points in Ohio in 2016. The Cook Political Report rates Ohio, which has 18 electoral votes, as “Lean Republican,” but election poll analytics website FiveThirtyEight rates Ohio as a “Toss Up.”

The recent Fox News poll also shows Biden leading Trump 52%-41% in Nevada, a state that has leaned towards Democrats in recent elections.

Despite Fox News having long been one of the president’s favored networks, he has sometimes fumed about its polling. Vanity Fair reported that the outlet's polling even caused Trump to lash out at Fox News executive Rupert Murdoch.

In July, Trump slammed a “fake” Fox News poll showing Biden with an 8-point nationwide lead. The president has often recommended his supporters watch One America News Network as an alternative to Fox.

With only 40 days before the Nov. 3 presidential election, recent surveys show Biden with a strong lead over Trump in the general election. A recent Economist/YouGov poll shows Biden with a 7-point lead over Trump, 49%-42%.
