Drake paid the strangest farewell to outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama with a faceswap meme on his Instagram account. The "Back to Back" rapper's post came after Obama gave his farewell speech in Chicago.

"As a Canadian that calls America home for part of the year I will always carry your words and the memory of your time in office with me as inspiration. Big up yaself O," Drake captioned the photo of Obama that was photoshopped to add the rapper’s signature beard and hairdo.

The photo was intended to be homage to the departing leader, but instead he was slammed by several social media users for uploading the photo, which people believe was disrespectful and even narcissistic.

"Way to make a historic presidency and moment in time about yourself. So out of touch it's sad," one follower commented on the photo, while another added: "Drake, you're the best but you're so corny for this."

A third person commented on the photo: "Why would u photoshop urself as him....ur just a rapper....he's the leader of the free world LMFAO u wish."

Drake had always imagined how Obama would look with his beard. Last year, the rapper poked fun at the jokes on "Saturday Night Live" by rapping: "How can I explain to my mama/When you got my beard on Obama?"

This is not the first time Drake has expressed admiration for Obama. In 2012, the 30-year-old mentioned an interest in playing the politician in a movie.

“Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice,” he said at the time.

Meanwhile, in an interview last year with YouTube star Swoozie, Obama reportedly said that he prefers Kendrick Lamar's music over Drake's, but also praised the latter's work.

"Gotta go with Kendrick,' Obama said, at the time. "I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer, but Kendrick — his lyrics, his last album was outstanding. Best album, I think, last year."

He also reportedly added: "I love Drake, and the girls love Drake, and, you know, so, he’s commercially just doing great, and unbelievably talented."
