Drew Barrymore has become the latest A-list Hollywood celebrity to help people who are deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The actress has decided to partner with McCormick Spices and donate a sum of $1 million to help those who are finding it difficult to find food during the difficult time.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the 45-year-old actress explained that she is grateful for having the opportunity to help those who are affected by the outbreak. She further stated that it is really important for everyone to raise awareness about food insecurity and provide the much-needed assistance to those who are in need of support.

Speaking further about the food shortage issue, the “Grey Gardens” star shared that she is extremely lucky to have a partner like McCormick, which is helping her in donating a huge amount of money for the kids who are unable to get food in such challenging times.

She also recalled the time when she was doing the same work for the United Nations (UN) in Africa.

“There are so many problems to address in the world that I think you have to pick something that really speaks to you. I do not know how I am so lucky that I get to be a part of that partnership with them (McCormick). Kids who are not in school are the exact same thing I was doing in Africa with the UN years ago. When there are so many issues to tackle, I keep going back to kids and food,” Barrymore said.

McCormick and Barrymore will donate the amount to an organization called No Kid Hungry.

The actress also talked about it on her Instagram and said that food is something that brings us together.

The news of Barrymore’s donation comes a month after Leonardo DiCaprio and Tim Cook donated $12 million to help supply food to those who need it the most amid the crisis. On the other hand, Amazon’s head Jeff Bezos also announced that he would be donating a staggering amount of $100 million to Feeding America, making it the biggest donation in the charity’s history.

Other notable personalities like Oprah Winfrey and Rihanna have also donated money to various organizations that are helping people in getting all the essentials they need amid the pandemic.
