In a bizarre incident, a man in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh bit a snake into pieces after the reptile bit him. According to local reports, the man used his teeth to rip apart the snake on Sunday.

The man, identified as Raj Kumar, was taken to a hospital after he bit a snake.

"My son was drunk," Kumar's father Babu Ram said. "A snake entered our home and bit him. He later bit the snake into pieces." The man's father said his son was in a critical condition following the incident.

The doctor in charge of the man's treatment said he initially misunderstood when a patient came and reported having bitten a snake.

After the incident, Raj Kumar's family cremated the snake, local media outlet NDTV reported.

In May, an elderly man bit a snake after the reptile bit him. Both the man and the snake died following the incident, which took place in the Indian state of Gujarat. Parvat Gala Baria was bitten by the reptile while he was working on his field. In a fit of rage, Baria bit it back, killing the reptile.

"Parvat Gala Baria was standing near a spot where maize was being loaded from a field onto a truck. A snake slithered out and while others there ran away, he continued to stand claiming he had caught snakes earlier," the village head told NDTV at the time. "He grabbed the snake which retaliated by biting him on the hands and face. However, Parvat bit back and killed the snake too."
