  • He showed off his cupping marks on Instagram
  • He also shared that he had enjoyed the therapy

Dwayne Johnson is serious about taking care of his body beyond workouts. In fact, on Tuesday, he took to Instagram to tell his 221 million followers that he recently tried cupping therapy.

The 48-year-old star posted a photo of himself with his back visible in the mirror. In the photo, it could be seen that his back had several cupping marks in varying shades of red and black.

"First time cupper over here," he wrote in the caption. "Looks more gnarly than it feels, but over all I enjoyed the therapy."

He also explained that it was part of his eagerness to try out new things that could contribute to his wellness.

"Always looking for new techniques to keep this 250million year old dinosaur body balanced and optimal with not only all my past injuries but my daily grinding family/work/training/repeat schedule," he shared. "It all takes it toll, so being proactive is critical."

Johnson also took time to remind his fans about the importance of taking care of one's body. "We only get one body, so we gotta take care of it," he concluded the post.

Cupping therapy, according to Healthline, is a form of alternative therapy that originated from China. During a session, a therapist places cups on the patient's skin to create suction. The therapy helps increase blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed and is believed to facilitate healing.

This is not the first time Johnson updated his fans about his health and wellness. On Feb. 28, he also made an Instagram post talking about his injuries and the quiet healing moments he has been so fond of.

"Even though I look like a wounded, passed out drunk buffalo laying face down in prairies - can't tell ya how grateful I am for these quiet healing/recovery moments," he wrote in the caption.

Johnson explained that it was after the fun pain of his injuries, which he listed down in the post. And, as usual, he concluded his message with a short reminder about the importance of taking care of one's own body.

Just recently, the actor shared a rare picture of him with legendary Japanese wrestler Tiger Mask, whom he praised for his kindness. He also shared his training routine for his upcoming superhero film, "Black Adam." The actor disclosed that he is training twice a day and that his routine includes cardio on an empty stomach.
