As the effects of the global climate crisis becomes more and more concerning, each Earth Day that passes becomes more significant, especially this year. First established in the 1970s, Earth Day brings together millions of people all the world to support the environment, reminding everyone of our responsibility to look after our planet.

However, you don’t need to wait for Earth Day to do something environmentally-friendly. In fact, "going green" is simply being good stewards of the earth the whole year round.

But how do you start? You can begin your switch to a more eco-friendly lifestyle with super easy and simple changes that are very sustainable.

1. Invest in eco-friendly technology

The first thing you can do is invest in eco-friendly technology. As it is such a big part of our lifestyle, switching to greener options should be very helpful to the environment.

There are many ways to go about this, for example, the WeMo Smart Plug gives you total control of your lights and devices, while the Renogy – E.FLEX 30 Portable Solar Panel will help charge your devices. Additionally, the Altered – Extreme Water Saving Nozzle attachment is great for reducing your water use.

2. Switch to renewables

Another simple way to go green is by contacting your energy supplier and asking to switch to a renewable source. It’s simple and hassle-free, and all the electricity you’ll be using will be zero carbon!

Making little changes like getting a portable solar panel will work wonders in your home.

3. Compost

If your food went past the “best by” date, don't let it fully go to waste. Composting is very useful for those with gardens, as it makes for a natural, healthy fertilizer.

Composting has become a lot easier to do, thanks to products like the Vitamix FoodCycler FC-50, which composts food in as fast as 4-8 hours. Meanwhile, the AeroGarden Harvest helps you cut down on food shopping by helping you grow fresh produce right in your home.

4. Recycle everything

The golden rule of going green is to recycle everything. The great thing about this is that you can actually recycle almost everything, from batteries, paper and of course, plastic. The next time you find stuff in your home that you're not using anymore, double check and think how else can you use it before throwing it away.

5. Use LED light bulbs

Not only do these types of bulbs last longer than conventional bulbs, but they’re also far more efficient in terms of power and electricity. You end up using less power, making for lower electricity bills, giving you extra savings.

Check out the Philips Hue LED Smart Bulbs, which provides easy and smart lighting that can be connected to your smart home. It even changes colors to help you set the mood and comes in packs of 3s for better value.

6. Insulate your home

Another way to becoming more eco-friendly is choosing to insulate your home. Doing so makes it easier to keep warm when it’s cold and stay cool when the weather is hot. It’s a long-term solution that only needs to be done once.

7. Choose your personal care wisely

You can also be eco-friendly when it comes to personal hygiene and it’s as simple as switching products you regularly use to green alternatives.

ByHumanKind’s shower routine bundle, hair care bundle, and best-sellers bundle are good products to try. All the products in these bundles are made from sustainable and eco-friendly ingredients and come in sustainable packaging to help minimize your waste.

8. Ride a bike

Last but not least, ride a bike whenever you can. Doing so is not only good exercise, but will save you from the expensive costs of gas whenever you drive a car.

There are plenty of bikes out there, but if you’re not confident of your bike riding skills yet, then the Aventure Step-Over Ebike has a battery that assists your pedaling. It’s also built well, comes with good safety features and has a maximum speed of 45kmph.
