Emma Stone may have declined the “La La Land” promposal of Arizona teen Jacob Staudenmaier, but the actress still made sure to reach out to him on his special day.

According to NBC 12 News in Arizona, Stone sent the teenager and his date a gift with a handwritten message that read, “Jacob, a little something for you and your lucky date tomorrow. Have a great time! Much love, Emma Stone.” Staudenmaier posted a photo of himself and his date with the corsage and boutonniere Stone gave to them via his Instagram account.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Staudenmaier went viral after releasing a video where he recreated the opening scene from the award-winning movie, “La La Land.” The high school student altered the lyrics of “Another Day of Sun” to include a promposal for the lead star.

In an interview with ABC News, the Arizona native said that he was inspired by the other promposals he saw and was a huge fan of “La La Land” that’s why he decided to ask Stone out. “It was one of my favorite films, and I’ve always liked Emma Stone as an actor, and I guess that spawned the idea of maybe asking her to prom,” he said.

Staudenmaier also sat down for an interview on “Good Morning America” recently where he read Stone’s letter live. The actress revealed that she couldn’t make it to his prom because of her busy schedule. However, Stone congratulated Staudenmaier’s efforts and thanked him for reaching out to her.

“Jacob, thanks for making the greatest promposal I’ve ever received. I can’t tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I’m in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me. THANK YOU. P.S. I see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma,” Staudenmaier read out loud.

Meanwhile, Stone received an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Mia in “La La Land.” The actress also bagged a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for the said project. Her co-star, Ryan Gosling, who played the role of Sebastian, also brought home a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.

Despite her recent success, Stone admitted to suffering from anxiety and panic disorders. Just recently, she starred in the video series created by the Child Mind Institute where she gave fans tips on how to deal with their mental illness. “You’re so normal, it’s crazy. Everyone experiences a version of anxiety or worry in their lives. Maybe we go through it in a different or more intense way for longer periods of time, but there’s nothing wrong with you. Don’t ever feel like you’re a weirdo for it. We’re all weirdos,” she said.

Stone added that having anxiety is part of what makes a person unique. “To be a sensitive person that cares a lot, that takes things in a deep way, is actually part of what makes you amazing and is one of the greatest gifts of life. You think a lot and feel a lot – you feel deeply, and it’s the best,” she said.
