The Good Wife
Christine Baranski returns in her role as Diane in “The Good Wife” spinoff series. CBS

The story of “The Good Wife” continues. After wrapping up its series finale in May, the CBS legal drama will be back with a spinoff show that will bring some old characters back and introduce some new ones.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show:

1. It Will Premiere In 2017

The spinoff is scheduled to release in February 2017, according to Entertainment Weekly.

2. Christine Baranski (Diane) And Cush Jumbo (Lucca) Star

“The Good Wife” spinoff will pick up one year after the events of the series finale. The original series’ creator, Michelle King, told TVLine, “It’ll be fun to build [the company] anew.”

3. The Series Premiere Will Air On CBS But The Rest Of The Episodes Will Be Available On CBS All Access

You read that right. The spinoff will premiere on CBS but the rest of the episodes will be only available for streaming on CBS All Access. And yes, you will have to pay to watch these episodes. The network is trying to follow in Netflix and Amazon’s footsteps by providing quality content online.

4. “The Good Wife” Creators Will Pen The Spinoff

The same people who created “The Good Wife” – Michelle and Robert King – will serve as the showrunners on the offshoot. That means the same magic that was seen in the parent series will be there in the offshoot.

5. Julianna Margulies May Make An Appearance

Although the only confirmed cast members on this project are Baranski and Jumbo, Michelle did hint that Margulies may make an appearance. However, the series will focus more on introducing new characters.

“The Good Wife” spinoff will premiere sometime in 2017.
