A former Kansas City police officer was indicted for targeting Black girls and forcing them into sexual slavery, documents unsealed Monday revealed.

The former detective, 69-year-old Roger Golubski, was accused of accepting money from another suspect, identified as Cecil Brooks, for allowing him and two other men - LeMark Roberson and Richard Robinson - to run a "working house," where young girls were tortured and forced to provide sexual services.

The working house was operating out of an apartment in Kansas City. The alleged criminal activities happened from 1996 through 1998 when Golubski was a detective at Kansas Police Department, reported Law & Crime.

Golubski, who frequently visited the working house, repeatedly targeted Black girls aged 13 to 17. He is also accused of forcibly raping a young woman at the apartment.

According to the indictment document, all four suspects face charges of conspiring to force women into sexual slavery, the Department of Justice said in a news release.

If convicted on all the charges, the suspects would face a maximum life sentence in prison.

Brooks, Roberson and Robinson allegedly provided drugs to the girls and "used physical beatings, sexual assaults and threats to compel young women to provide sexual services to men," the news release said.

Roberson was accused of intimidating one of the victims by telling her they had murdered a woman by burning her alive. The alleged crimes were kept under cover by Brooks, who "paid off law enforcement so that officers would provide warnings when police were about to 'hit' the house."

The indictment also refers to a fifth suspect who allegedly was part of the conspiracy but their identity was not revealed as the person is now dead.

Police have requested anyone with additional information to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

In a separate indictment in September, Golubski was charged with civil rights violations for allegedly acting under color of law to commit aggravated sexual assaults.
