Several southern states have been under severe weather and tornado warnings that are expected to last until Wednesday. A tornado that struck Texas on Monday resulted in at least one death.

A 73-year-old woman died after a tornado hit and destroyed her home located in Sherwood Shores, a city 90 miles north of Dallas, the Grayson County Office of Emergency Management told a local Dallas outlet Tuesday. The storms have caused about two dozen injuries in Texas as well.

Texas and Oklahoma were struck by an official tornado outbreak on Monday. Texas saw at least 20 tornados in Jacksboro, Crockett, Madisonville, Elgin, Bowe and Rock Round.

It's been reported that the tornadoes have caused multiple highways to close down along with thousands of power outages.

Tornadoes are continuing to touchdown in multiple areas into Tuesday. Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will continue to be under a tornado watch until later in the evening on Tuesday. The storms over the course of the next few days are predicted to put around 50 million Americans at risk.

“This setup has the potential to produce strong and long-lived tornadoes, some of which can occur at night,” AccuWeather Senior On-Air Meteorologist Michelle Rotella said.
