In a bid to raise awareness about cervical cancer, a man from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, shared his late wife’s pictures on Facebook. However, the social media channel took down his account.

Elliott Lowe, 42, posted two pictures of his late wife Donna's battle with cervical cancer on his Facebook page Friday but his account was suspended after a while. In one of the posts, he warned people about the importance of smear tests.

The 32-year-old woman lost her fight to cancer and died in August, less than eight months after she was initially diagnosed. She had to undergo daily radiotherapy and a chemotherapy session for six weeks. However, later the chemotherapy session had to be stopped due to complications. She was survived by her husband and four young children.

In a series of Facebook posts, Elliott explained that Donna did not want to go for her last smear test and kept postponing it. He urged women to never make such a mistake.

Elliott told the Mirror U.K. that his page was suspended 'due to unusual activities on it as a security procedure' presumably because of the number of interactions on the post triggering safety measures.

“I have been asked to supply a photo of me to confirm my identity, which I have done. I am unable to contact them in any format to get my account reactivated,” he said.

“I am extremely disappointed with the way Facebook has handled this situation and the lack of communication,” he added.

“I can't understand why I pose a problem or risk. I dread to think what people are thinking now my account is no longer active and my post missing.”

He further added, “My ultimate aim of my post was to raise awareness of the devastating effects of cancer to the Facebook community I only ever expected there to be a few hundred shares if I was lucky I never dreamt that my post would reach so many people across the world.”

Earlier, speaking to the Mirror, Lowe said, “My youngest daughter is very matter of fact and tells everyone that her mummy is in her heart and her head. I’m dreading Christmas. I have no idea what to expect or how the kids will react, I’m just going to have to play it by ear.”

Lowe had posted two pictures — one image showed a healthy Donna while another showed how she was affected by the disease. The first image showed the happy couple while the second image showed Donna in her hospital bed with her mouth open with her bones protruding from her chest.

Lowe apologized for posting the images that were disturbing but he said that he did it all just to create awareness of how devastating cancer could be, reported the Daily Mail.
