KEY POINTS

  • "Way Of The Househusband" received mix reactions due to its animation style
  • Some viewers said that the show's humor carries the series through its non-existent animations
  • More episodes are coming soon to Netflix as a second season has been announced

The hype for the “Way Of The Househusband” anime adaptation slowed down when the trailer was first released after fans noticed its distinct slideshow-like animation style. Some viewers were ultimately disappointed after finding out that the entire show felt more like a PowerPoint presentation than an actual anime, but not everyone shared the same sentiments.

Netflix’s “Way Of The Househusband” adaptation was animated by J.C. Staff, the studio behind several notable anime shows like “Food Wars,” “One Punch Man Season 2,” “DanMachi” and the “KonoSuba: Legend Of Crimson” film, among many others. The company’s works are mostly well-received while some, like the aforementioned second season of “One Punch Man,” have gained a bit of controversy due to animation quality.

While it does seem like the “Way Of The Househusband’s” anime adaptation will be going down the company’s track record of controversial anime releases, there are more than just a few viewers who still liked the show despite the lack of actual animation.

Anime fans enjoyed the show’s humor with some even finding the animation style to be a good fit. The voice acting in particular received much praise from viewers as well.

The animation style for “Way Of The Househusband” was apparently intentional, as per CBR. The show’s director Chiaki Kon said in an interview that the decision to use a “non-moving” style was made under the behest of the show’s producers. In the same interview, The original manga’s author Kousuke Oono said that he found the animation style to be a good fit for his work, as it easily encapsulates the essence of each gag with perfect comedic timing.

The decision to have Kon direct the adaptation was also deliberate since her experience with yakuza comedy in the past with “Back Street Girls” was deemed to be invaluable, as per CBR.

“Way Of The Househusband’s” first season only has five episodes, much to the dismay of its fans, but more will be coming in the future with “Way Of The Househusband Part 2” having been announced by Netflix, the Anime News Network reported. The second part will feature more characters and even more antics in the daily life of an ex-yakuza legend.
