A little more than a month after debuting his single, Harry Styles released his “Sign of the Times” music video, causing a frenzy on social media.

On Monday, the singer shared the music video on his Twitter account, and the clip featured a different side of Styles compared to his One Direction days. In the video, the singer is seen walking in a grassy field near the water as he belts out the popular tune.

When he begins to sing the chorus, “We gotta get away from here,” the former One Direction begins to fly, exploring the environment and flying over trees. Eventually, Styles finds himself floating among the clouds reaching a state of bliss.

Many fans praised the singer on his first solo project. “#SignOfTheTimesMusicVideo was an exact depiction of my interpretation of the song. Getting away from the planet earth,” one fan wrote.

“Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, LEGENDARY. #SignOfTheTimesMusicVideo,” another fan gushed.

However, there were some fans that didn’t quite understand the concept for the video, but they still praised the singer. “I literally don’t know what Harry was going for in the #SignOfTheTimesMusicVideo but he was very very handsome,” one fan wrote.

Although there were mixed reactions to the video a majority of the fans seemed satisfied with the visual. “#SignOfTheTimesMusicVideo ohh my god.. Most Beautiful music video I have ever seen!!!” a fan wrote.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Styles revealed that the tune has a deep meaning and was actually about a mother dying in childbirth. “For everyone, all races, sexes, everything. … ‘Sign of the Times’ came from ‘This isn’t the first time we’ve been in a hard time, and it’s not going to be the last time,’” he explained.

“The song is written from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there’s a complication. The mother is told, ‘The child is fine, but you’re not going to make it.’ The mother has five minutes to tell the child, ‘Go forth and conquer,’” the singer said.

The debut of the video comes as another treat for fans following Styles’ announcement that he will be going on tour this year. On April 28, the singer revealed that he would be performing in several venues in the U.S. and overseas. However, despite the big news, some fans were disappointed with the tour dates and locations because the singer was not coming to their city.

On Friday, the singer tweeted out a message assuring fans that they will eventually get a chance to see him if they choose to do so. “I am overwhelmed, thank you. If I don’t get to see you this tour, I’ll come back around next year if you’ll have me. Love, H,” he tweeted.

Fans will just have to be patient until Styles makes another trip around the globe to entertain audiences and share his music.

Styles’ self-titled album will be out May 12, but for now, check out these fan reactions to the “Sign of the Times” music video below.
