“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is already set in the 1920s, but the Wizarding World franchise will go even further into the past. Casting calls for teen characters reveal that “Fantastic Beasts 2” will include flashbacks.

Though Jude Law will play young Albus Dumbledore, fans will also see an even younger version. Pottermore revealed that an open casting call is being held for actors between the ages of 16 and 18 to play the future Hogwarts headmaster. He won’t be alone in the flashbacks, though. “Fantastic Beasts 2” is auditioning actors in the same age group to play Gellert Grindelwald, primarily portrayed by Johnny Depp.

It’s not surprising that the two are in the flashbacks together since they share quite a history. They planned a revolution together to end the International Statute of Secrecy and planned to create a world where wizards and witches ruled over muggles. Eventually, Dumbledore changed his mind after his sister was killed in duel between himself, Grindelwald and his brother Aberforth. Grindelwald still moved forward with his plans, and the movie will likely retell some of that history.

However, Dumbledore and Grindelwald aren’t the only characters who will be seen as teenagers, according to the casting call. Flashbacks will also reveal what Newt (Eddie Redmayne), Leta (Zoe Kravitz) and a new character named Sebastian were like as students. Warner Bros. is also looking for teenage actors between the ages of 13 and 16 for those parts.

“Fantastic Beasts” fans only know a little about Leta Lestrange. Aside from the fact that she is somehow related to Bellatrix, the first movie also hinted that she had hurt Newt. Queenie (Alison Sudol), who is a Legilimens (a witch who can read feelings and memories), told Newt that he should move on. “She’s a taker. You need a giver,” she said.

Kravitz hinted that Leta will have a role in not just the second film, but several movies in the five-picture franchise. “I think there’s a few ahead,” she told Collider in January. “The relationship between Leta and Newt Scamander is a complex relationship, so I think there will be a lot of time for that to grow and develop, which will be fun.”

Leta’s relationship with Newt will be quite complicated. Director David Yates confirmed that their romantic feelings will make situations difficult for the magizoologist. “Newt is still absolutely in love with [Leta], so she has a kind of power over him,” he told Bustle in November.
