A 40-year-old man in Fountain, Colorado, was arrested on new charges the same day he was sentenced for a different case.

David Miller was arrested Tuesday night following a traffic stop where police found suspected illegal drugs in the car he was driving, according to a statement from the City of Fountain Police Department. Miller had just been sentenced to probation for felony charges earlier in the day.

Detectives with the department's Directed Investigations and Community Engagement (DICE) team received a report about careless driving and responded to a vehicle in the 1100 block of S. Santa Fe Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

After pulling over Miller in his car, officers noticed that suspected narcotics were “visible in the vehicle,” and he was placed into custody.

Police said they found that Miller was in possession of approximately 2 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and around $4,000 in cash. Investigators also discovered that Miller’s driver’s license was suspended.

Miller was charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule II-controlled substance, driver’s license violation and careless driving.

Hours before his arrest Tuesday night, Miller was sentenced to probation in connection with a conviction for felony menacing with a weapon, court documents said.

A look at his records also showed prior convictions for numerous felonies. These included seven prior sentences to the Colorado Department of Corrections, CBS Denver reported.

Miller was booked into the El Paso County Jail following his latest arrest.

Last week, police seized half a pound of methamphetamine, 100 fentanyl pills and 12 grams of heroin during a SWAT Team arrest in Weld Country, Colorado, on Nov. 10, KDVR reported.

The meth and fentanyl were found during the arrest of 40-year-old Jose Antonio Leos at a storage unit in Greeley, Weld County.

Leos was arrested on a first-degree assault charge after allegedly severely beating and strangling a woman earlier this month, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
