  • Todt assured that they have passed all tests so far

The president of the Federation Internationale de Automobile (FIA), Jean Todt, is opening up about the saga that involving the Ferrari Formula 1 team.

Scuderia has been dealing with disputes and allegations concerning the team car's engine and regulations established by the FIA concerning formula one racing.

From 2019, the FIA has been giving the Ferrari team a closer look than other competing teams.

Concerns and issues raised by the competitors pushed the FIA to launch investigations into the power unit Ferrari was using in 2019.

Pre-season tests done in Barcelona involving the Ferrari team did not reveal much, but Ferrari and FIA engaged in a confidential agreement.

Once this private agreement came into light, other participating teams in the F1 championship raised several complaints.

The FIA president spoke to media outlets to set the record straight concerning his role in the Ferrari controversy.

He said that some teams in the F1 had suggested that Ferrari was breaking the rules, and the FIA's technicians have been investigating to find out if Ferrari's engine was legal or not.

Mr. Todt claimed he put pressure on the FIA technical team "to perform as many checks as possible to come up with a conclusive result."

He reassured that the FIA was not going to take chances, so they are going to make sure everything is up to code. However, the FIA does not investigate issues based on whims.

Todt stated tests on Ferrari's engine continued for a long time. Ferrari again found themselves under the scrutiny from FIA in Abu Dhabi recently when Charles Leclerc's car had fuel consumption problems.

According to Todt, this incident was one that rang alarm bells, and the FIA wanted to have a clear understanding of the problem.

He said the stewards checked Leclerc's car for illegalities and found out the cause of the discrepancies to be human error.

Ferrari was fined for this incident, and Todt said this was the appropriate action to take. Media outlets maintain that FIA apparently had reservations about Ferrari all through the season, but Scuderia is influential, so no action was taken against them.

Ferrari team has categorically stated that the FIA cannot prove any illegality on their part presently and that they are following the rules.
