  • A number of James' fellow NBA players have all excelled in rapping

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recently shared that he’s thinking about getting into the music business.

While the multiple-time NBA champion and MVP already stated that won’t be doing any rapping, he also said that he did have a lot of friends who could rap.

Obviously, James was alluding to the many hip-hop lyricists that he had close relationships.

“King James” does have access to some of the most popular rap artists in the world, but he actually does not need to look too far for talented lyricists. In fact, there are a number of notable rappers right within the NBA community.

Here are NBA stars who can actually rap in James’ upcoming music project.

Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard is fire on the basketball court and on the mic. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar is not only one of the best players in the NBA today, but he’s also the best rapper in the league, and it’s not even close.

Lillard, who goes by Dame D.O.L.L.A. in the booth, has three studio albums to his name. His 2016 debut album "The Letter O" peaked at No. 7 in the Billboard US R&B and Hip Hop Charts.

He has also collaborated with the likes of 2 Chainz, Lil’ Wayne, Jamie Foxx, Raphael Saddiq and Juvenile.

Iman Shumpert

While not a lot of fans are aware of his rap exploits, Iman Shumpert is widely respected in the league as a lyricist.

According to an interview with Bleacher Report, Shumpert has been rapping his whole career and sees it as an “escape” from the basketball floor.

Shumpert’s music may not have gotten the widespread attention that Lillard has, but he’s still easily one of the best rappers in the league today.

Marvin Bagley

The world came to know of Marvin Bagley’s rapping skills when he got into a "feud" with Lillard.

The two went back and forth, and while Lillard came out the winner, Bagley earned some respect on the mic.

The Sacramento Kings big man dropped his first studio album entitled "Big Jreams" in 2019 and has released two more albums since, featuring collaborations with Lillard, Famous Los and Fabolous.

Andre Drummond

Another under-the-radar rapper in the league is Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond.

Drummond released his first studio album "FYI" back in 2018, and the project is indeed worth a listen.

In 2020, Drummond released a follow-up album "FYI2."

Over the last few days, Drummond made headlines after the Cavaliers decided to put the All-Star center on the shelf after being placed on the trading block.

Lonzo Ball

LeBron James’ former Lakers teammate Lonzo Ball isn’t only a versatile ballplayer, but he’s also a pretty solid rapper as well.

The oldest Ball brother released his first album "Born 2 Ball" in 2018 and featured songs such as "ZO2," "Melo Ball 1" and "Super Saiyan."

In 2020, the New Orleans Pelicans guard released a second album entitled "BBA."
