Barry (Grant Gustin) and Julian (Tom Felton) are going to have a completely different dynamic in the second half of “The Flash” Season 3.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Aaron Helbing implied that Barry and Julian will have a friendlier relationship when the CW series returns from its midseason hiatus this week.

“I would say they’re conflict-free,” Helbing said of Barry and Julian’s dynamic following the revelation in the midseason finale that the latter was unwittingly serving Savitar as the metahuman Doctor Alchemy.

“The thing about Team Flash is they’re willing to always give people the benefit of the doubt, give people a second chance,” Helbing explained. “They’re very big on people making amends for their past mistakes. I mean, we know Barry’s made a ton of past mistakes. Cisco’s (Carlos Valdes) made some mistakes. Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) made some mistakes. So I think Barry will take the same attitude towards Julian that he takes with any of this other friends.”

According to the synopsis for the Season 3 winter premiere, Caitlin offers Julian a job. Although it remains to be seen how Barry’s coworker at Central City Police Department will react to the offer, it’s more likely that he will accept the job, as Helbing revealed that Julian “wants to make amends” with Team Flash and “feels culpable” for helping Savitar.

In fact, Julian has already started to make friends with the team since the midseason finale. Although Julian initially declined Caitlin’s invitation to celebrate Christmas with the whole team at the Wests’ residence, he later changed his mind and showed up at the gathering. While there, Julian also told Barry that he talked to Captain Singh (Patrick Sabongui) and was able to withdraw his fellow CSI’s resignation.

“The Flash” midseason premiere (Season 3, episode 10) airs on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
