A father from Florida has been charged with murder for allegedly shaking his infant daughter to death after he got "frustrated" because she was "crying for the longest time."

Hector J. Solis, 29, brought his daughter to Palm Bay City Hall and reported to police that she was not breathing. Officers working with the Palm Bay Police Department and fire rescue team were dispatched to the city hall, according to an affidavit obtained by WKMG-TV.

Solis handed the child to first responders, who immediately performed life-saving measures and attempted to resuscitate the child. The infant was then rushed to Melbourne Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead early Sunday morning.

Palm Bay Police Department took Solis into custody and charged him with one count each of first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated child abuse as assault, as per records. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail and has been denied bond.

According to the affidavit, after handing the child to first responders, Solis admitted to shaking the infant. Footage captured using police body camera reportedly showed him saying that the child was "crying for the longest time" and confessing, "I just got frustrated, and started shaking her."

Solis told police that the shaking incident took place at a different location, the address of which was redacted by authorities from the arrest report.

According to records, Solis appeared before County Judge Judith E. Atkin on Monday and was denied bond.

Abusive head trauma, more commonly known as "shaken baby syndrome," is said to be the consequence of "awful, deliberate abuse." It is estimated that 1,300 infants suffer this brain trauma every year.

Children who are under the age of 2 are considered to be at high risk of sustaining injuries from the condition. According to Nemours KidsHealth, toddlers who manage to survive may suffer from long-term illnesses such as seizures, hearing loss, cerebral palsy, delayed development and blindness.

In June, a mother was sentenced to more than a decade in jail in New Mexico in connection with her baby's 2018 death due to brain hemorrhage and "shaken baby syndrome."
