A man in Hillsborough County, Florida, choked and pushed a three-year-old girl till she passed out. The man was charged with attempted murder and child abuse Monday.

According to local reports, the man, identified as 27-year-old Devin Mendez, abused the girl on three separate instances, which left the child with visible wounds all over her body. The exact dates of the incidents were not known.

In the first incident, he pushed the girl and she fell down and lost consciousness for over 15 minutes. The girl’s face was bruised and she had a cut on her lip. Her wrist was also broken.

In the next instance, the accused grabbed the child around her neck to stop her from crying. This resulted in the girl getting bruises around her neck. In the third instance, the girl was left with several wounds around all over her body after the accused hit her three times.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the man admitted to all the instances of child abuse. The accused also told the investigators that after each incident, he told the child’s mother that she had fallen and bruised herself. He also admitted to not obtaining medical attention for the child.

The accused was booked in the Orient Road Jail, however, his relationship with the girl was not known.
