Former five-weight champion Floyd Mayweather took aim at Canelo Alvarez's new partnership with DAZN by stating he makes as much in one fight than the Mexican will make in his entire new deal.

After HBO dropped their coverage of boxing last month, Alvarez was without a broadcast home with the likes of Showtime, FOX and ESPN all interested in his services.

In the end, however, it was streaming service DAZN who got his services, with the middleweight champion signing a five-year, 11-fight, $365 million deal Wednesday to have his fights broadcast on the platform, in what is being described as the biggest athlete deal in sports history.

Afterward, Alvarez spoke of potentially fighting Gennady Golovkin a third time, especially if the former champion, who was also on HBO, joined DAZN. The topic of Mayweather then came up.

Mayweather is the only fighter to defeat Alvarez (50-1-2) after their meeting back in 2013, which saw the latter, who was expected to win the fight, thoroughly outclassed by "Money" who came away with the majority decision win.

Alvarez was 23 then, however, and has heavily improved since, which is why he feels Mayweather won't give him a rematch, especially with all the talks of the American having a second fight with Manny Pacquiao.

“He doesn’t want to risk a second fight with me,” Alvarez said. “You know, if he wants to return and have fights, he should return and fight me. It would be tough for him but I know that he wouldn’t want to take that risk.”

Mayweather did not take kindly to his comments and Thursday, posted on Instagram where he took aim at Alvarez for his failed drug tests earlier this year and claimed Conor McGregor was a better fighter than him.

In addition, he boasted of his lucrative nine-figure payday he made last year when he defeated McGregor in their boxing match.

"It didn’t matter if Canelo ate his PED steak or not this night," Mayweather wrote. "This was by far the easiest fight of my career! Connor McQuitter was a way better fighter than Canelo's cheating a-s and I beat the brakes off him too!"

"It takes me 36 mins or less to make $300 million plus. It literally takes me 1 night and 1 fight to make what you might make in 5 years and 11 fights! So really, who's still winning? You do the math!"

Mayweather also took aim at Alvarez's promoter Oscar de la Hoya in a separate post, who he notably defeated via split decision back in 2007, as the duo have gone back-and-forth with each other since.

Alvarez is yet to respond to Mayweather's jabs but De La Hoya did hit back later in the day with his own post.

Alvarez will challenge for the World Boxing Association super middleweight title next as he faces Rocky Fielding on Dec. 15 at Madison Square Garden, New York.
