Speculation has continued to increase about a potential bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2015, and it’s looking more and more likely that the two fighters will finally meet. PacMan has been challenging the undefeated boxer since his last fight, and he’s confident that he’ll get his shot this year.

“We will make an announcement before the end of the month,” Pacquiao said, via the Manila Standard. “I think it (the fight) will happen.”

Pacquiao beat Chris Algieri to retain the WBO Welterweight Title on Nov. 22 in Macau, China. Looking for his next opponent, Pacquiao has called out Mayweather multiple times on social media.

Mayweather hasn’t been in the ring since he won his rematch with Marcos Maidana on Sept. 13. He has two bouts remaining on his contract with Showtime, and his next fight is likely to come in May. In mid-December, Mayweather publicly announced his desire to fight Pacquiao this year.

The two sides have reportedly been discussing a potential fight, and Pacquiao indicated that bout could possibly happen on May 2, per Mayweather’s request. According to the Los Angeles Times, the two camps have agreed on a drug-testing plan, which was an obstacle that prevented the fight from happening in 2010. The report states that the fight would take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where Mayweather has fought his last 10 bouts.

While much of the sports world will be happy to see Mayweather and Pacquiao finally agree to fight, Amir Khan won’t be celebrating. The boxer has been hoping to get his shot at Mayweather for over a year, and a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight could end that dream for good. If boxing’s top stars agree to a rematch clause, as has been reported, Mayweather could fight Pacquiao twice in 2015, before calling it quits. He’s stated that he plans to retire when his Showtime contract concludes at the end of the year.

After Mayweather defeated Canelo Alavarez in Sept. 2013, it appeared that he would face Khan in May 2014. The boxer instead chose to take on Maidana, who he fought twice this past year.

Khan defeated Devon Alexander in a unanimous decision on Dec. 13, and believes he’s earned a shot at the top star in the sport. He’s looking to get back in the ring before the summer, and has given Mayweather a Jan. 16 deadline, before he begins his search for another opponent.

"I want to fight in May and I want the Mayweather fight but it’s not getting any closer," Khan said, via the Telegraph. "There is a lot of money in a fight with me but he’s trying to avoid me. Mayweather wants to keep his ‘nought’, he doesn’t want to take the big fights. I’ve given his team five days. I need to know because I need to start training."

Khan has won his last four fights, including a unanimous decision over Luis Collazo on the undercard of Mayweather-Maidana I. The Brit has said that he’d also consider a bout with Pacquiao.
