When Ford (F) first unveiled the 2020 Shelby Mustang GT350R back in August, it was unleashed with a flurry of enhancements to its 2019 predecessor. With a price tag that starts under $75,000, the GT350R could be one of the best vehicles to come down the Ford assembly line to date.

Like its older sibling, the GT350, the new 2020 GT350R has the same 5.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 526 horsepower. The engine incorporates a flat-plane-crank architecture that can hit 8,250 rpm redline and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission – the only drivetrain option on the vehicle, CNBC reported.

The GT350R is a more aerodynamic car with improved suspension as well as a 130-pound weight difference compared to the 2019 model. The reduced weight was a result of eliminating the exhaust resonators that give the car that distinct exhaust rumble, Ford previously said.

The new muscle car takes some of the best components of its sister model, the Mustang GT500, including the front suspension assembly. It also features redesigned magnetic dampers that add stiffness to provide a softer ride with greater grip. The muscle car is rounded out with carbon fiber wheels for better ride, handling, and turning, according to the news outlet.

Technology was also updated on the GT350R with premium audio system, blind spot monitoring, voice activated navigation, and several new exterior paint options.

The GT350R reportedly starts at $73,435 which is more than the starting price of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, which has an initial price tag of $72,900.

Shares of Ford stock were down 1.20 percent as of market close on Monday.
