Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has revealed some interesting facts about his Old Trafford teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, including the Portuguese’s fitness regime and drinking habit.

Berbatov had the opportunity to watch Ronaldo closely for a season during his Manchester United stint between 2008 and 2012. Ronaldo parted ways with the Old Trafford side in 2009 to join Real Madrid, where he tasted immense domestic and European success. After spending nine years with Los Blancos, the 35-year-old Ronaldo moved to Juventus in the summer of 2018 and has continued to be one of their standout performers despite being in the twilight of his career.

Ronaldo is known for his fitness, dedication, and commitment and Bulgarian playmaker Berbatov’s comments were a testimony to the same.

"I’ve been a lucky guy to share a season [with Ronaldo]. Training with him was like a war because I didn’t think about anything other than winning everything, including the little games we played. Cristiano was a good kid who increased the competitive atmosphere of the team. You’d come to training and he’d already been in the gym. Then, he’d stay for extra work after training to work on his finishing, before going swimming and then returning to the gym. He was determined to be the best," Berbatov told Spanish publication Diario AS.

Manchester United organized Christmas parties for their squad and the staff members, but according to Berbatov, Ronaldo was very professional and never drank at the parties.

"At the Christmas parties we organized the players had a great time, but he was always very professional. I never saw him even take a drink. He took extreme care of himself," added Berbatov.

In six seasons at Old Trafford, Ronaldo netted 118 goals in 292 competitive appearances, where he won many trophies, including three Premier League titles and a Champions League. He had an unbelievable stint at Real Madrid, where he scored 450 goals in 438 matches. In a little over two seasons, Ronaldo has already netted 77 goals in 99 games for Serie A champions Juventus.
