  • After being teased on Twitter, Blade is indeed joining "Fortnite" for this season
  • Not only is Blade available as a cosmetic, so too is his sword and the Dayflier glider
  • The current season of "Fortnite" has already seen many Marvel characters appearing in the game

No less than the legendary vampire hunter Blade is joining the character line-up for the current season of “Fortnite.”

After being teased earlier in the week on both the Twitter accounts of Fortnite and Marvel Entertainment, ScreenRant reports that the half-human/half-vampire Daywalker will join the cast of heroes in the battle royale game.

Season 4 has seen the Marvel Universe begin to populate the game and they’re not a minute to soon because the players will need to come together to defeat the world devourer himself, Galactus. From Iron Man and his fellow Avengers to the X-Men and Wolverine, there is no end in sight so far on the continuous cavalcade of characters.

Created by writer Marv Wolfman and penciler Gene Colan and making his first appearance in 1973’s “Tomb of Dracula #10," Blade has been a recognizable character both in comics and mainstream media.

When Wesley Snipes portrayed the character in a series of films beginning in 1998’s “Blade,” he unofficially signaled the beginning of a new age of Marvel characters in cinema. His combination of martial arts, swordplay, and vampire hunting sparked the imagination of many, resulting in more interest in characters from comics.

The official Fortnite website reports that Blade is now available as a cosmetic in the game. Not only can players buy the Blade Outfit or the Blade Bundle from the item shop, but they will also have access to the lethal Sword of the Daywalker. This popular weapon is available as a pickaxe (because this is “Fortnite,” of course) or can be sheathed in his back as Blade is known to do.

So comprehensive is the support for Blade that his Dayflier Glider is being introduced to “Fortnite” to give players another way of flying into the game. An emote called “the Daywalker’s Kata” is also available to allow Blade to show you just how skilled he is in the martial arts.

Prior to this, an X-Wing Fighter from “Star Wars” was also made available as a purchasable glider in the game a few weeks ago.

With his skills meant more for hunting vampires, monsters, and the undead, it isn’t clear how effective Blade will actually be in the big battle against Galactus, but just having him in “Fortnite” is all kinds of cool already.
