“Four Weddings and A Funeral” Season 1 came to an end on Wednesday, and fans of the Hulu series might be wondering if the show has been renewed or canceled yet. However, it doesn’t seem like fans should expect any news regarding further episodes.

The Mindy Kaling-produced TV show was billed as a “limited series,” meaning it wasn’t intended to be renewed for Season 2. It’s also not a cancellation if the ending was always planned.

Of course, if a miniseries is wildly successful, a second season might be ordered. That’s what happened to shows like “Big Little Lies” and “The Sinner,” but it doesn’t sound like the “Four Weddings and a Funeral” writers are betting on a surprise renewal.

Showrunner Tracey Wigfield said that the writers “wrote it as a complete story” while speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour (via Deadline) ahead of the premiere.

It sounds like the stars agree that the story is finished. In an interview with Express, both Ainsley actor Rebecca Rittenhouse and Kash actor Nikesh Patel said they felt the story was complete. However, Rittenhouse acknowledged that there might be a creative way to keep the show going with another story.

“It does [feel complete] but I feel like there is room for it to be some sort of anthology type series, which I think would be really cool,” she explained. “Because there’s not a whole lot on TV like this where you have this hour-long dramedy format where you get the comedy but you also get the heart.”

Viewers who tuned in to the “Four Weddings and a Funeral” finale know that the show fulfilled its titular promise of four trips to the altar and one burial.

The show is based on the 1994 romantic comedy of the same name, but it introduces a new, diverse group of millennials. Along with Patel and Rittenhouse, Nathalie Emmanuel, Brandon Mychal Smith, John Reynolds and Zoe Boyle star in the series.

The show kicks off as Maya (Emmanuel) connects with a man at Heathrow Airport only to later realize that it’s Kash (Patel), her best friend Ainsley’s (Rittenhouse) love. All 10 episodes of “Four Weddings and a Funeral” are now available on Hulu.
